Colorado Culmination

Lets finish off my Colorado pictures, in anticipation if posting some photos from last fall, and the upcoming slew from this fall.

One of our weekends in June, Lisa and I went up to The Collegiate Peaks and St. Elmo. St. Elmo is a Ghost Town, of past fame in the mining days of the 1800s. There were a lot of hummingbirds and chipmunks there. This picture is from an antique shop. June 2003

That same night, we went to Cottonwood Pass, to see the sunset. Cottonwood Pass is on the border of Chaffee and Gunnisson Counties. Although it was June, there were still some snow deposits up there, and the temperature dropped considerably, to the point where the had to put on our hats. It was a nice clear sunset, with nothing but contrails in the sky.

The next morning, we went on a hike up to Ptarmigan Lake. Although this is not Ptarmigan Lake, I love the reflection of the mountain in the still pond.

A few weeks later, Lisa and I went for another trip to Rocky Mountain National Park. This shot is from our hike up Glacier Gorge to Mills Lake. Lisa is standing on a boulder, looking at the expanse that is the rest of Glacier Gorge. June 2003.

Another shot of Glacier Gorge, but framed with a nearby tree branch.

More Hanging Lake

These are some wildflowers that I took near Hanging Lake in CO. These were along a sidetrail from Hanging Lake to Spouting Rock (the source of Hanging Lake). August 2003.

Hanging Lake

With the news of Joe T. leaving CO and coming back east, it conjures up images of our final days in CO. During our last 2 weeks, we got away for a day trip out on I-70 to Glenwood Springs. On the way, we stopped at Hanging Lake (August 2003).

More Sand Dunes

Here is one more from the Great Sand Dunes National Park. This is a panorama of the dunes and the Sangre de Cristo mountains. Nice how they all have a coating of snow. Note Lisa (as a gingerbread man) on the far right. February 2003.
